Sometimes Love

Easter is only a few days away! At the beginning of this week we informed you all that we would post something everyday until Easter. Today I would like to share with you a song about Jesus’s sacrifice.  The song is entitled Sometimes Love, and is by Chris Rice. For all of you who are wondering, all of our post will not involve Chris Rice, I just really like his music. The lyrics to the song are:

Is our world spinning backwards?
What has brought about this change?
Can’t you see that people aren’t the same

Wish I were dreamin’
And could wake up from my sleep
Find us all the way we used to be

Cause the love that used to be is dyin’
Is anybody even tryin’?
And I don’t know how, I don’t know why
But somethin’ in my soul is cryin’

Listen

Sometimes love has to drive a nail into its own hand
Sometimes love has to drive a nail into its own hand, into its own hand

One pair of Hands broke some bread and washed some feet
Opened eyes and soothed an angry sea
Belong to a Man who could see our deepest need
And showed us love the way it has to be

Cause He knew the price that love requires
And He laid down His own desires
He stretched out His hands to save His friends
And said ‘no other love is higher’

So listen to me now singin’

Sometimes love has to drive a nail into its own hand, into its own hand
Sometimes love has to drive a nail into its own hand, into its own hand

Love can change us, love can make a way
Only love can change us, love can make a way
Only Jesus’ love can change us, love can make a way
Only Jesus’ love can change us, love can make a way

Love can change us, love can make a way
Love can change us, love can make a way

Wish I were dreamin’
And could wake up from my sleep
And find us all the way we used to be

Not only did Jesus lay down his own desires, but he suffered greatly. He died one of the most miserable deaths imaginable. He was whipped, kicked, and crucified. Sometimes love requires doing the unthinkable, it requires torture, pain, and misery.  John 15:13 says:

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Would you be willing to do it, to give up your life for another? Jesus did it because he loved us more than we can possibly imagine, He loved us before we were even created. It doesn’t matter what we do or who we are, He will always love us. He took all our sins upon himself, for one simple reason: He couldn’t bear the thought of us living eternity in Hell. There is no greater love.

“Jesus died for you, knowing that you might never love him back. That is true love. “~ Unknown author

I hope you enjoy the rest of Holy week!
